# University Communications Veteran Named Vice President for Marketing and Communications

*Turner Hall JC 10012019 8329 1920x1080 — Anne Buckley has led communications and marketing at UC San Diego for four years, and previously held senior roles at the University of Alabama at Birmingham and Virginia Commonwealth University. She will join UMD's Office of Marketing and Communications, housed in Turner Hall, in September.*

*University President Darryll J. Pines sent the following email to campus leaders on Monday afternoon:*

I am pleased to announce that I have named Anne Buckley, APR, as vice president for marketing and communications. In this role, Anne will provide vision and leadership to bolster Maryland's reputation as a top national and global university in research, academics, arts and athletics, with a commitment to embracing the diversity of our community.
