# Students’ Podcast Amplifies Issues of Forgotten Feminist Magazine

*FIRE Feminism Podcast 07112023 HH 0313 1920x1080 — The new student podcast, "With Love & Struggle," traces enduring women's issues such as reproductive rights and domestic (or "invisible") labor through the pages of the trailblazing feminist news journal, Off Our Backs. The project is the product of a summer research internship through UMD's First-Year Innovation and Research Experience (FIRE) program.*

In the early 1970s, the FBI began surveilling a potential new threat to national security: an extremist group labeled “armed and dangerous” by agency officials in internal memos. The handful of women targeted by the agency didn’t carry guns or call in bomb threats, but to the feds, they wielded weapons just as lethal: feminist rhetoric, typewriters and a printing press.
