A. James Clark School of Engineering researchers have developed a technique to shrink the size of batteries while doubling their power and reducing degradation from recharging. Even after a thousand charge cycles, the new technology ensured 93 percent of battery capacity, which the authors call "unprecedented." Possible applications of the work—a collaboration with the U.S. Army Research Laboratory and Argonne National Laboratory—range from electric cars to personal electronics.
