From party classics like cornhole and Jenga to free ice cream and an inflatable bouncy slide, UMD students found a variety of ways to cut loose last night at the North Campus Carnival.

As the semester winds down and final exams and papers loom large, the 10 North Campus residence hall councils hosted the event at LaPlata Beach in collaboration with the Department of Resident Life and the Residence Hall Association.

Other highlights included music provided by Terrapin Beats Society DJs, raffles and giveaways—and not chump change items, but Bose speakers and Maryland gear from Under Armour and other suppliers, and snacks from Rita’s Italian Ice and Insomnia Cookies, among other delicacies.

Residents of other campus communities need not worry—similar events are coming soon to an area near you:

The South Campus Block Party, a joint effort of South Hill Area Council, SCC Area Council, and North Hill Area Council, will held from 3–5 p.m. tomorrow on the Prince Frederick lawn. The Leonardtown Block Party is scheduled from 4:30–6:30 p.m. May 10 outside the Leonardtown Community Center, or inside if it’s raining.
