Leaving an offering to the Testudo in front of McKeldin Library may be a finals-week tradition at Maryland, but it’s probably not your best strategy for earning an A.

Scott Roberts, acting executive director of the Teaching and Learning Transformation Center, is accustomed to seeing students struggling with stress and pressure at this time of year. But rather than rely on the magic of a bronze statue, he suggests looking for your finals-week salvation in smarter studying.

"Unfortunately, too many students wait until finals to figure out whether they learned stuff or not,” he said.

Before hitting the books, Roberts advised students to take care of themselves—and to pace themselves. He offered the following tips before students face finals later this week:
